Great Moravian Empire Monument

The Great Moravian Empire Monument in Staré Město (Old Town) is built over the foundations of the first stone building of proven Great Moravian origin to be discovered in the area – the “Na Valách” church. The exhibition provides information about Great Moravia and its culture to the general public. You can see replicas of period dress, shoes, rare jewellery, working tools and other findings from archaeological excavations. The foundations of the Great Moravian church are the centre of attention. The exhibition is based on the story of Mojslav, buried in the ninth century in the Old Town “Na Valách” burial ground. Through the story, it presents historical moments and life in the ninth century.
