Position

Stretching in the east of the Hodonín, Uherské Hradiště and Zlín regions, Bílé Karpaty can be proud of numerous features.

Nature

It is the area with the biggest variety and quantity of orchid representation in Central Europe. International qualities of this region were also recognized by UNESCO that included Bílé Karpaty in the list of Biosphere Preserves in 1996. The most renowned localities include the complex of flower meadows Čertoryje and beech primary forest Javořina. In addition to marked path of the Club of Czech Tourists, there are seven interpretive trails to guide you while you will wander to see the beauties of Bílé Karpaty. In Veselí nad Moravou there is an exposition dedicated to this unique area.

Monuments

As for the most famous monuments, let us mention e.g. the wind mill in Kuželov, Neo-Gothic chateau Nový Světlov in Bojkovice, folk architecture sights in Horňácko (The Highlands) and the Uherský Brod region, buildings of Dušan Jurkovič in Luhačovice or a ruin of the Roman castle in Brumov. Probably the best known museum exposition of the foothills of Bílé Karpaty is the open-air-museum in Strážnice. Several expositions in Bílé Karpaty are dedicated to the personality of J. A. Komenský (Comenius).

Cultural Traditions

Probably the most renowned folklore events are Mezinárodní folklorní festival (International Folklore Festival) in Strážnice, Horňácké slavnosti (Highlands Feast) in Velké nad Veličkou, Kopaničárské slavnosti (Kopaničárské Feast) in Starý Hrozenkov or Festival masopustních tradic (Festival of Shrove Traditions) Fašank in Strání. Before the end of the year, you can go to Valašské Klobouky to the famous Mikulášský jarmek (St. Nicholas Market).

Holiday

Cycling tourists can go along the long-distance trail Beskydsko-karpatská magistrála or choose any of the regional trails. In Bílé Karpaty, you can find swimming pools, car camp sites, interesting fishing areas and game parks rich in deer animals and hunting cottages with hunting equipment. You can also enjoy bowling or visiting a horse riding club, tennis courts, fitness centres and indoor swimming pools.

The main centre of winter holiday in Bílé Karpaty is in its northern half - in the Uherský Brod region, Luhačovické Zálesí and in the area of south Valaško, where you can visit several skiing resorts. However, the possibilities of cross-country skiing are much wider and you can find nice tracks virtually in all areas of Bílé Karpaty and, in particular, there is a lot to see all the time.
