Wine and Wine-growing in Břeclav Region

There are three wine-growing areas in the Břeclav region - Mikulov wine-growing area famous for Ryzlink vlašský (Italian Riesling), Velké Pavlovice wine-growing area renowned by good red wines and Podluží, where Veltlínské zelené (Grüner Veltliner) and blue mutations (Frankovka, Zweigeltrebe) grow well. The most significant wine-growing towns and villages include Mikulov, Valtice, Dolní Dunajovice (the biggest wine-growing village in the Czech Republic), Velké Bílovice, Velké Pavlovice and Hustopeče. You can find unique cellar architecture in Pavlov but interesting cellar areas can be found in Bořetice, Terezín or Týnec, too.

You can learn a lot about wine and wine-growing in the Museum Exposition in Mikulov, in the National Wine Saloon in Valtice and on two interpretive wine-growing trails in Valtice and in the surroundings of Mikulov. The most significant wine-growing events include Pálava vintage in Mikulov and Wine markets in Valtice. However, numerous wine tasting events and wine exhibitions take place in the Břeclav region all-year-round.
