THE MUSEUM OF VILLAGE IN THE SOUTH-EAST MORAVIA IN STRÁŽNICE
Zámek 672
696 62 Strážnice

Within the extensive area of the museum, there is a model of settled landscape with a village of solitary cottages from Luhačovické zálesí, Horňácko (Highlands) and Dolňácko (Lowlands). An area of haylofts and vineyard cellars is also represented. In the area, there is also a blue-and-white printing workshop, which continues with the traditions of dyeing industry of the Strážnice region. Altogether, there are 65 objects here.

The expositions situated in selected objects enable the visitors to learn about the way of life and housing of people in the hilly areas of Slovácko as well as in the fertile part of Pomoraví, where farming of many farmers was based on wine growing. The exhibition of vineyard buildings and their equipment, which is completed with an example of vineyard presenting wine growing from the oldest past to the present days, is the only exposition of this kind in the republic. Craft production is represented by a smithy from Lipov and weaving workshop from Nová Lhota in Horňácko, while technical water constructions are represented by a horizontal saw from Čerešník mills in Horňácko.

Annually, the Institute of Folk Culture organizes many events for the visitors to the area, e.g. maypole pitching, harvest festival, hill closing, examples of hand crafts and events for children. The last weekend in July, the area becomes an attractive environment for the programs of the International Folklore Festival Strážnice.
